WRITING RETREATS AT C H A P E L G A R T H

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from a Residential Academic Writing Retreats?

A writing retreat allows you to carve out some protected space for writing. This means that while you focus on the writing, everything else is taken care of.  You will be given a timetable and you will be welcomed into our Writing Room(s). We are happy to adapt to participants' individual requirements.

Are retreats only for academics?

No, anyone who has a piece of work to write is welcome around our table. Most participants tend to be in academia (from MA students to Professors), but we occasionally have creative writers or others who just need a quiet and inspiring space to write.

Can I use the internet/mobile?

Phones are silenced in the Writing Room and we discourage participants from using the WIFI. This can be accessed if needed.

What is included in the price?

Rooms, all meals, activities and facilitation are included in the price. Towels, linen and toiletries are all included.

What about transport?

If you are travelling by train we will arrange a minibus or taxi to collect participants - this will help keep your travel costs low.

Are writing retreats for women only?

We offer regular (monthly) Women Only Retreat where individuals can book independently. A limited number of retreats are open to all - Currently the September, January and June retreats are open to men and women.

We also offer the option of Group bookings (male and female).
